Understanding the Empath Experience: Insights and Solutions

Before I knew I was an Empath, I did not understand why I had such strong feelings when around certain people or places. Some people made me sad, some filled me with negativity, some would bring out a darker-side in me, some would make me feel ill and then there were some who made me feel as though my mouth had been sewn-up.

I was baffled as to why I had these all-consuming emotions, when around certain people. In time, I discovered, like all Empaths do, the majority did not belong to me.

I was highly attuned to other people’s energy. There were some who had the most amazing vibes and were a joy to be with but, as is human nature, I tended to focus on the more negative, of what I felt in others, and allowed it to overwhelm me.

Because I felt negativity, that I could not switch off from, in such an overwhelming way, it made me feel weak.

I did not want others to know this, and use it against me, so I hid what I felt and never expressed to anyone what was going on inside my body or mind.

It may have appeared to others I was being self-important, aloof or selfish, I wasn’t. I had to stay disconnected to protect myself—although I didn’t realize that was what I was doing—from those who made me feel bad. But this detachment was misconstrued by some and interpreted as snobbery which only made things more uncomfortable.

I felt like I was in a no-win situation. If I opened myself up to others I got drained; if I closed myself down I was attacked. Explaining my Empath ways didn’t help either because people find it difficult to understand what they themselves don’t experience. 

It took me many years to appreciate my Sensitive nature is a rare and unique gift. When I discovered I was Empath my life made sense but it wasn’t until I found balance in mind, body and spirit that I came to discover the true power of an Empath, find stability and thus self-acceptance.

Uncovering why I felt all I did, when around people, was just the start of my Empath journey.

If I had not experienced all I did the path I would have followed would be unrecognizable to the one I have. The way I felt kept me searching, looking for the answers in many places.

As you may have already discovered for yourself, when we keep searching, and asking the right questions, we will eventually find our answers.

To find balance and manage all that I experienced as an Empath, I have spent the past twenty years searching and studying. I studied everything from human anatomy to UFO phenomena.

I am a qualified color and crystal therapist, massage therapist, reflexologist, aromatherapist, Reconnective healing practitioner, and yoga teacher. I have also spent many years doing in-depth research into diet and nutrition, and how it affects Sensitive people.

My years of study and self-trials have more than paid off; restoring my health, happiness and passion for life. It is this research that also enabled me to bring to you the book ‘7 Secrets of the Sensitive’.
