Transform Your Energy: Simple Solutions for Empaths

If you are an Empath, do you often find yourself being bombarded with negative, external emotions that seem to seep into your very being?

This overwhelming influx of feelings can leave you feeling drained and disoriented, as you navigate through the emotional chaos that surrounds you.

It can be particularly challenging to discern which emotions are truly yours and which belong to others, especially in crowded spaces or during highly charged situations.

Even if you stay home and don’t venture out into the world, do you still pick up pain from the outside world?

Would you like to know what you could do to help with that?

Well, there are several things you could be doing. All of which are super easy to do.

But here we will look at some things you can do that will not only help clear negativity, but also have you feeling on top of the world:

Nurture Your Thoughts with Compassion:

Many of us are like amateur architects of our own drama, building elaborate emotional castles with the thoughts we’ve got, especially those pesky, gloom-and-doom ones.

It’s like the moment a negative thought sneaks into our brain, it throws a party, invites all its gloomy friends, and before you know it, we’ve gone from sunshiny optimism to a raincloud rave! Once that negative thought sets up camp, it’s like a bad sequel—one lousy idea after another just keeps strolling in, ready to ruin our mental film festival.

The best way to dodge those pesky repetitive thoughts is to not even throw them a welcome party!

When a dark thought sneaks up on you, kick it out and swap it for a glittery, good one! Sounds easy, right? Well, it’s about as easy as herding cats. But hey, we do get to choose what clicks in our heads! We can either let our thoughts boss us around or take charge…

Change your thoughts, and who knows, you might just change your life – or at least find a new hobby like extreme cloud watching! Check out meditation below…

Drink lots of Water:

Most of us should be downing at least 8 glasses of H2O a day—because our bodies are like leaky buckets, losing water through sweat and trips to the loo! And guess what? The more we weigh, the more we transform into walking water bottles that need to be filled up! So chug away, my fellow hydration enthusiasts!

There’s an ancient saying floating around, mostly among those overly pious folks from back in the day, ‘Cleanliness is second to godliness.’ I used to think this was just a fancy way for parents to pressure their kids into cleaning behind their ears (because nothing says “good hygiene” like a thorough search for long-lost snacks), but now I’ve had an epiphany!

Water does more than just turn us into soggy creatures; it’s like a superhero for our energetic bodies, washing away grime and all the bad vibes—perfect for when you feel like a human magnet for negativity!

If you’re sceptical, try this when you come home from a hard day at work: Instead of reaching for the wine, drink a large glass of water then jump straight in the shower.

See what an uplifting effect it has on you.

Exercise and Play:

In the western world, a lot of us hit the gym to shed some pounds and sculpt a model-worthy bod—because who doesn’t want to look great in those awkward little gym shorts?

But hold onto your sweatbands, folks! Exercise can help you release that pent-up rage from your last Zoom call, rid your body of impurities through a sweat fountain you didn’t know you had, elevate your mood to heights so high you’ll think you’re on a sugar rush, and let’s face it—it’s pretty much a party where you can dance like nobody’s watching!

So instead of calling it “workout-time,” let’s just rebrand it as “playtime.”

When it comes to playtime do what you love.

Some of you might be slogging through a boring exercise routine that feels more like a chore than a game of dodgeball with your enthusiasm. If that sounds like you, it’s time to dust off those childhood hobbies!

What did you absolutely love as a kid? Riding your bike until you skinned your knees? Skipping like you were in a Broadway musical? Hula-Hooping like you were auditioning for the next Olympic sport? Bouncing on a trampoline like a rubber ball gone rogue? Horse-riding like you were in a wild west showdown? All splendidly silly forms of play masquerading as exercise!

If you don’t like rules, routines or set times then go freestyle. Make the rules yourself. Get the music cranked up and dance like nobody’s watching (which it’s probably best if no one is whilst throwing your shapes out).

Dance, stretch and jump your cares away and get a sweat on. All you need is 10 minutes a day, but I guarantee if you’re doing something you love those 10 minutes will easily turn into 20, 30 or 40… Who needs a gym or a class?

Meditation:

If your brain is running a 24-hour talk show featuring a cast of hyperactive thoughts and dramatic fears, this is absolutely your ticket to zen-ville!

It’s like giving your mind a mini-vacation where it can finally kick back, sip a virtual piña colada, and actually think straight during those stressful moments.

There are tons of meditation styles out there—just imagine a buffet of blissful practices! It’s all about finding the one that makes you feel like a zen master rather than a confused chicken.

And do you want to know a great form of moving meditation? Yoga.

Yoga:

Many people say yoga is not for them, but it’s the very people who turn away from yoga that are the ones who need it most. Yoga serves anyone and everyone no matter what age or ability and it should be a staple in every person’s life.

The very essence of yoga is all about our breath—yes, that thing we do without thinking! We breathe our way in and out of postures, and that’s why yoga can be considered a moving meditation, or as I like to call it, “pretzel stretching for the soul.”

It calms down our overworked minds (which is why some folks avoid it like the plague—they can’t handle the thought of being still for even a second) and helps us achieve a body that’s both strong and supple, perfect for bending over and picking up those snacks we dropped!

There are many forms of yoga and there will be a fit for everyone. For those sporty types who love to work hard and build a sweat there’s Ashtanga or Bikram yoga. For those who need a gentler pace there’s Iyengar or Dru yoga.

The hardest part of yoga is getting on the mat, but once there your body will flow gracefully through the poses and thank you for it after.

Create:

In a world ruled by rules and the monotonous ticking of clocks, we rarely find time to unleash our inner Picasso, but believe me, it’s one of the simplest ways to crank up the feel-good vibes!

When we dive headfirst into our hobbies—whether it’s knitting sweaters for our pet goldfish or perfecting our interpretive dance moves—the mental lift-off is out of this world! Plus, doing what we love gives our overthinking brains a much-needed vacation from the gloomy thoughts that haunt us like a bad sitcom rerun.

Many folks claim they’re not creative because they can’t paint like Picasso or play the piano like a toddler hitting random keys. But hold your horses! You don’t have to be a wizard with glue and glitter or win a Grammy to unleash your inner Van Gogh.

Whether you’re busting out an epic dance routine that looks more like a goose in a tuxedo, penning the next great American novel (or a grocery list), arranging flowers like they just survived a windstorm, or whipping up a five-star menu from last night’s leftovers, that’s creativity, my friend! Everyone’s got a hidden talent – it’s just waiting for you to trip over it!

Nature:

Being outdoors in nature is like a free therapy session with a side of fresh air! If you’re stuck in a concrete jungle with zero access to parks, make sure to escape on the weekends—far away from honking cars and the scent of exhaust fumes. It’s like hitting the reset button, only without the need for a code!

Crystals:

The healing power of crystals has been the talk of the town since way back when, from the mysterious lands of Atlantis to the pyramid-packed streets of ancient Egypt. Those ancient folks even had crystal chambers—think of them like the world’s first spa retreats—where they’d lounge around and get pampered by shiny rocks to cure everything from a headache to that nasty case of overactive imagination!

Crystals can be like your chakras’ personal trainers, helping them get fit and remove those pesky blockages! It’s all about color coordination, folks!

For instance, if your solar plexus chakra is sporting yellow, then Citrine is basically its workout buddy. And while the sacral chakra might be feeling a bit orange, Amber jumps in to save the day. Oh, and let’s not forget the throat chakra—when it’s turning blue, Blue-Lace Agate shows up like the best friend who reminds you to use your inside voice while still being fabulous!

Place the crystal on the body, inline with the chakra. It is best to do this whilst lying down (crystals fall off otherwise) and perhaps do a meditation or listen to soothing music for as long as you need. (Click here for best grounding stone)

Red Base/root chakra: Red Jasper

Orange Sacral chakra: Amber

Yellow Solar Plexus chakra: Citrine

Green/pink Heart chakra: Rose quartz/Aventurine

Blue Throat Chakra: Blue-Lace Agate

Indigo Third eye chakra: Sodalite

Violet Crown chakra: Amethyst

Depending on your need (and on the crystal), you can toss them into your bath for some sparkly relaxation, sneak them under your pillow for the weirdest dreams ever, stuff them into your socks (fashion statement alert!), or use them in your meditations.

Essential oils:

As with crystals, the healing power of essential oils has been around since your great-grandma was on a first-name basis with all the local plants.

Who knew that just sniffing a bottle could do wonders? If you’re looking for the Swiss army knife of essential oils, look no further than Lavender! Unlike its high-maintenance buddies, this little beauty can waltz onto your skin like it owns the place—no carrier oil needed! Toss it in your bath, and suddenly, you’re in a spa commercial—just try not to drink the water.

And let’s not forget, it’s an antidepressant, antiseptic, and antifungal. Talk about a multitasker! Need some sleep? Lavender’s got your back. Check out the best oils for the Empath here.

Laughter:

As grown-ups we spend too much time being solemn and serious, and too little time having fun (especially in the current times). Do you remember the last time you had a proper belly laugh?

You don’t stop playing because you grow old; you grow old because you stop playing!

We hear children laugh all the time. They don’t know how to take life seriously, it’s all about play and fun. We should all strive to stay childlike. To see the world in wonder and above all have fun and laugh. Anything that makes us laugh will make our spirits soar. It really is a therapy.
