Simple Home Décor for the Empath: Why Less Truly Is More

Greetings.

I do hope everything is wonderful in your world.

Today, I want to cover the topic of home décor for an Empath, because I consider it to be an important subject for anyone trying to get on top of all they feel.

As an Empath, your environment deeply affects how you feel, physically, mentally, and emotionally. Home should be your sanctuary, a space that restores and supports you. But when your space is cluttered, it can quietly drain your energy, even if you don’t realize it. (Ahem, something that I keep needing to remind myself. )

This is why simple home décor isn’t just a stylistic choice, it’s a powerful form of energetic self-care.

What Is “Empath Clutter”?

I first wrote about Empath clutter back in 2013… Wow! Have I really been blogging that long…? But it is something that it is incredibly important to our wellbeing.

You might wonder, What exactly is Empath clutter?

Simply put, it’s anything in your home that holds stagnant, heavy, or outdated energy—energy that weighs you down. This can include:

  • Clothes you haven’t worn in years
  • Gifts you didn’t like but kept out of guilt
  • Books you plan to read “someday”
  • Random items shoved in drawers or stacked in corners

Even when these things are hidden away, their energy lingers. And for an Empath—someone who naturally absorbs and responds to subtle energy—this creates an invisible burden that disrupts peace and clarity.

Why Clutter Feels So Draining

You may not realize how much a cluttered home affects your mood and energy. Just like being in a noisy crowd, too many objects, too much “stuff”, creates overstimulation.

Clutter leads to:

  • Mental fog
  • Physical sluggishness
  • Emotional overwhelm
  • A sense of being energetically “polluted”

Empaths, whether aware of their sensitivity or not, often feel uncomfortable in overly busy or cluttered spaces. This is because every object holds energy, and too many conflicting energies in a space create internal tension.

Why Simplicity Feels So Good

Choosing a simple, minimalist home décor style helps clear the energetic static around you. With fewer items in your space, your system can finally exhale.

A simple home doesn’t mean empty or cold, it means intentional, calming, and spacious. It’s about surrounding yourself only with what soothes or inspires you.

Years ago, after reading Clear Your Clutter with Feng Shui by Karen Kingston, I felt compelled to do a full house detox. My husband and I cleared room by room, removing old, unused, or unhelpful items from cupboards, drawers, and closets. The shift was immediate. It felt like a heavy, invisible weight had lifted from our shoulders.

How to Begin Decluttering (Without Overwhelm)

Decluttering can stir up surprising emotions, fear, guilt, or resistance. But that’s okay. Change, even positive change, often brings discomfort at first.

Start small:

  • One drawer
  • One shelf
  • One corner

And ask yourself this simple question for each item:

“Does this support my well-being right now?”

If the answer is no, or if it holds stress, guilt, or unresolved energy, let it go. Donate it, recycle it, or release it with gratitude.

A little warning: It’s completely normal to second-guess yourself. You might find your mind suddenly inventing uses for an item after you’ve cleared it out. That’s part of the process. Let it pass.

Creating Space for Peace

When your home is energetically full, there’s no space for anything new—new energy, new ideas, or new opportunities. But when you clear space, you invite peace, creativity, and calm into your life.

As an Empath, you already navigate a world full of energetic input. Your home should be a counterbalance, a place that recharges you.

Simple, clean décor supports:

  • Emotional clarity
  • Grounded energy
  • Inner calm
  • Restful sleep
  • Clearer thinking

To Conclude

For the Empath, simplicity is not about restriction. The fewer distractions in your space, the more space you have to breathe, feel, and be yourself.

So if your environment feels heavy or chaotic, start clearing gently and intentionally. You might be surprised how quickly your inner world shifts to match your outer one.

Here’s to lightening your space, and your spirit.

Until next time, stay grounded and gentle with yourself.

Sip the Sun: Why Solarised Water Might Be the Glow-Up Your Routine Needs

Following on from my last post about the benefits of water, today I want to dive deeper, and discuss the benefits of solarised water.

You may already be aware that I am a full-on advocate of daylighting. Every morning, without fail, I go outside and soak up the morning’s first light. And I feel the benefits. So, it got me thinking about my water.

If our body’s get so much benefit from natural light wouldn’t our drinking water too? After all we are just “big bags of salty water.”

So, I tried it.

And I have to say, I’m impressed.

When I drink solarised water, I find it to be cleaner, lighter and more energising than standard filtered water. You can tell something special has taken place within the water’s structure.

Funnily enough, I first tried water solarising over 20 years ago, after studying colour therapy (see below). But for whatever reason I didn’t continue. I expect my younger self found the ritual to be too much of a faff.

So, What Is Solarised Water?

It’s exactly what it sounds like: water that’s been left out in the sun, or daylight, to absorb solar energy. Traditionally, this is done in coloured glass bottles (a form of colour therapy) to add another layer of healing intention. The practice comes from Ayurveda, an ancient Indian system of medicine.

Origins in Ayurveda

Ayurvedic texts dating back thousands of years emphasize the healing power of the sun (Surya) as a source of prana (life force).

Water exposed to sunlight was believed to absorb this energy, transforming it into “living water” that could balance the body’s doshas (Vata, Pitta, Kapha). See this post on discovering your dosha type

This practice is part of Surya Chikitsa, or solar therapy, which includes sunbathing, sun salutations (Surya Namaskar), and consuming sun-charged water.

In modern times, it’s found a place in holistic health scenes, blending beautifully with chromotherapy and mindfulness practices (chromotherapy is based on the idea that each colour has a specific frequency and energy that can affect the body and mind in different ways.)

The Benefits

It has to be said that modern science hasn’t caught up with the following claims. But here’s what advocates of solarised water say it can do:

  • Energise the body: Many people report feeling refreshed and uplifted after drinking solarised water, especially when it’s charged in the morning sun.
  • Support digestion: Ayurvedic traditions often link Surya Jal with digestive fire (Agni), drinking it is believed to help with bloating and acidity.
  • Encourage detoxification: With its soothing, restorative energy, solarised water is thought to promote cellular health and flush out toxins.
  • Balance emotional energy: Depending on the colour of the glass bottle you use, it’s said to gently tune your emotional and mental state.

Bonus: There’s some scientific backing when it comes to sunlight’s ability to purify water. Solar disinfection (SODIS) is used in parts of the world where clean water access is limited, UV rays kill bacteria when water is exposed to sunlight for a few hours.

Chromotherapy Meets Hydration

One of the best parts? You can choose your bottle based on how you want to feel:

Bottle ColourEffects
🔴 RedStimulates energy, circulation, and passion
🟠 OrangeBoosts creativity and enthusiasm
🟡 YellowEnhances focus, digestion, and optimism
🟢 GreenBalances emotions, promotes healing and harmony
🔵 BlueCalms the mind, reduces stress and inflammation
🟣 VioletSupports spiritual awareness and intuition

How to Make Solarised Water

Ready to brew your first batch of sunshine? Here’s your how-to:

  1. Choose Your Bottle Use a clean glass bottle, coloured glass if wanting the colour benefits. Make sure it’s food-grade and non-toxic. Avoid plastic.
  2. Fill It with Water Use clean, filtered, or spring water for best results.
  3. Let It Sunbathe Place the bottle in direct sunlight for 1–4 hours. Morning sunlight is gentle and lovely, but any bright day works. Just don’t leave it out too long in extreme heat.
  4. Store and Sip Drink the water the same day for maximum freshness. You can store it in a cool place or refrigerate it, depending on your preference.

Optional extra: whisper a positive intention or affirmation to your water before placing it in the sun. It’s a small moment of mindfulness that adds to the ritual.

Why You Should Soak Up the Sun Too

Solarised water isn’t the only thing that benefits from a little sunshine, you do too. Here’s why stepping into daylight is one of the best things you can do for your body and mind:

Benefits of Daylight Exposure

  • Regulates your circadian rhythm, helping you sleep better and feel more alert during the day.
  • Boosts mood by increasing serotonin levels, nature’s own antidepressant.
  • Supports vitamin D production, which is essential for bone health, immune function, and hormone balance.
  • Improves cognitive function, including memory, focus, and decision-making.
  • Strengthens immunity by energising T-cells and reducing inflammation.

Even 15–30 minutes of morning light can make a big difference. So, while your water’s soaking up rays, why not join it?

The Infrared Advantage

Sunlight doesn’t just give us visible light—it also delivers infrared light, especially in the early morning and late afternoon. This invisible light has some pretty amazing effects:

  • Boosts circulation and helps oxygenate tissues.
  • Reduces inflammation and supports muscle recovery.
  • Stimulates mitochondrial function, increasing cellular energy (ATP) and promoting healing.
  • Enhances skin health and may even support detoxification through gentle sweating.

This is the same principle behind infrared saunas and red-light therapy, but the sun gives it to you for free. Just remember to enjoy it responsibly and avoid overexposure.

Finally

There’s something lovely and grounding about solarised water. And hey, if all you get out of it is a reason to drink more water, step into the sunshine, and feel a little more connected to nature, isn’t that already a win?

Until next time, stay happy and healthy.

Diane.

The Essential Water Guide for Empaths

Are you one of the many Empaths who struggles to stay in  control of how you feel?

You are not alone. The stresses of ‘Empath life’ certainly takes its toll on the emotional and physical wellbeing of many Empaths.

But did you know that just by drinking more water you can become healthier, both emotionally and physically?

Sound too good to be true…? Read on…

The body consists of up to 75% water (some body tissue has 95%), so it will come as no surprise that we need to drink lots of water to stay in balance physically and mentally.

When out-of-sorts, we can turn to water as a quick pick-me-up. Not only will it help keep the body functioning properly but it also helps in dealing with Empath overwhelm and emotional energy.

Most are unaware just how dehydrated they are, because they regularly drink fluids throughout the day. But as the body uses so much water, just to function, it is quickly being used and in constant need of replenishment.

Breathing alone loses a quarter of the body’s water, on a daily basis, and that’s without any physical exertion.

Dehydration affects well-being, appearance and accelerates the aging process. Being well-hydrated is essential to keep the body functioning and the energy levels stable.

We could not survive more than a few days without fluid and this should make it clear how important it is.

But not only does an insufficient supply of water create problems with the functioning of the body and mind, it can also influence how an Empath experiences the energy of others.

Because they are often on overload, from experiencing too much emotional energy, the Empath’s filtering system does not always work as efficiently as it could; meaning toxins stay in the body longer than they should. Which can play havoc with their emotions.

By drinking lots of lovely water, it will help flush out anything that doesn’t get removed by the body being on ‘high alert’, or on emotional overload, and thus aids in keeping the energy body strong.

A strong energy body helps keep you protected from the emotional energy of others. It also helps keep the physical body strong, which in turn acts as a shield to any external unpleasantries.

Water not only feeds all the body’s cells but it also acts as a buffer and cleanser of negativity.

If as an Empath, you allow yourself to get dehydrated, you may be prone to suffering unnecessary anxiety and panic attacks, especially after spending time in busy places or around pessimistic people.

A lack of water shows up in many ways: externally as wrinkly or tissue-like skin, dry mouth, lips and eyes. Internally as headaches, dizziness, brain fog and fatigue. It can also lead to muscle weakness and a lack of stamina.

Dehydration also contributes to excess emotional stress; a problem Empaths already suffer too much with. Drinking plenty of water, whilst enduring any type of stress, significantly reduces its negative effect on the body and mind. Try it and see.

Apart from staying well hydrated, one of the easiest ways to see water’s powerful cleansing effect is to jump in the shower straight after coming home from work or after time spent in peopled places, and see the uplifting effect it has. For greatest energy cleansing benefits, make sure the crown of your head goes under the shower (which means getting your hair wet). If you’re not a shower person, a bath works equally well..

You should also aim to drink at least ten glasses of pure water each day to replenish what your body loses naturally.

Water really is an easy elixir for the Empaths. We need lots of the stuff to help us stay healthy, happy and grounded.

During stressful periods or times of change, it is even more important to keep your water levels high. Doing so will help keep you balanced and grounded and build a stronger defence against the overwhelming ‘people energies’ you may encounter.

NB: if you drink a lot of water be sure to be supplementing your diet with a high trace mineral salt. Consuming high volumes of water can flush out important minerals which need to be topped up. See this post on salt for health and clearing negativity).

Hope this helps on your Empath journey.

Until next time…

Does People Intolerance Really Exist? (Spoiler: Yes!)

Apologies for not posting since early May. I’ve been crazy busy will a gazillion different things (still am).

I started this post two months ago, and I’ve only just got around to its completion. And I have to be honest, I have used AI for the edit.

Anyone who blogs will know, it’s not always the article writing that takes the time, it’s the editing. But just so you know, the words are still from me.

So, here we go…

Does people intolerance really exist?

This isn’t about disliking someone because of their attitude or personality. It’s not even necessarily about the other person at all; it’s about how our energy reacts to their energy. And that reaction? Well, it can feel like emotional whiplash.

What Is People Intolerance, Really?

The best way I can describe it is this: it’s a bit like a food intolerance.

Some foods that are healthy on paper—fruits, vegetables, nuts, etc. But for some of us, they just don’t sit right. It’s often the histamines, oxalates, or lectins. Either way, the reaction can range from brain fog and tiredness to irritability or even mild anxiety.

And people can affect us in a similar way.

You spend time with someone: maybe a co-worker, a relative, or even a friend you like, and afterwards, you feel completely wiped out. Not because of anything they said or did, but because of how your system responds to their energy (although sometimes negative talk can have the same impact.)

Common Symptoms of People Intolerance

You might walk away from a conversation or gathering feeling:

  • Emotionally drained or sluggish
  • On edge or unusually irritable
  • Depressed for no reason
  • Foggy-headed and unable to focus
  • Like you’re carrying around someone else’s mood
  • Moody or spaced out

Sound familiar?

It’s not in your head. Us Sensitive people are like emotional sponges. We absorb more than most, and if we’re not careful, that can throw us right off balance.

Why Does It Happen?

In short: stress. Any form of stress. Physical, emotional or energetic can impact us deeply, especially when we’re tuned into the subtle shifts in others.

When we’re around certain people, we may unknowingly take on their emotional energy, even if they don’t seem outwardly stressed. They might be masking anxiety, anger, or sadness, and our sensitive system just picks it all up like a sponge.

Other times, it’s simply a clash of energy. Our system says, “No, not for me,” even if nothing’s wrong on the surface. And like with food, it may have nothing to do with quality, just compatibility.

So, How Do I Deal with People Intolerance?

I’ve learned a few handy tools to help clear out those dense vibes and return to my natural state of peace and balance:

1 Avoid when possible: Let’s be real—sometimes you can’t avoid people completely. But if I notice repeat reactions around certain individuals, I try to create a little distance when I can. Boundaries are magic.

2. Take a shower: There’s something about water that just cleanses energy. A quick shower (especially with sea salt soap or essential oils) works wonders for shaking off lingering emotional gunk.

 3. Get grounded: This could be a barefoot walk on the grass, sitting in the garden, or just lying on the floor with my hand on my heart. Grounding helps pull my energy back into me.

5. Reach for your crystals: Black tourmaline, amethyst, or hematite—just having them near or in my pocket brings a sense of calm and protection. They’re like energetic bodyguards.

6. Do  yoga: Gentle movement helps move energy through the body. It’s especially good when I feel sluggish or heavy after social time.

7. Deep breathing: Even 3–5 minutes of mindful breathing can reset the nervous system. Inhale peace, exhale people problems.

8. Aromatherapy oils: Lavender, frankincense, chamomile and clary sage are some of my go-tos. A few drops on the wrists or diffused into the room brings an instant energetic shift.

Final Thoughts

So yes, people intolerance is a thing. And while it might sound odd to some, those of us who feel deeply know it’s real. The key is not to judge yourself for it or blame others.

Everyone is vibrating at their own frequency. Sometimes, those frequencies just don’t work well with ours, and that’s okay.

Take care of your energy like you would your health. Tune in, notice how you feel after time with others, and don’t be afraid to honour your needs.

Whether that means taking a step back, grounding yourself, or just breathing through it.

Hope this helps on your journey.

Until next time,

Diane

Coping with Noisy Energy in Daily Life

Have you ever read the term noisy energy, and wasn’t too sure what it meant?

Or are you not sure how it may affect you?

That’s what I hope to address today.

To best explain the concept of noisy energy, it is when you feel someone’s energy so powerfully that it almost feels like noise.

You might react to it as you would to uncomfortable loud sounds. Or you may just feel irritated by it. (You may even be tempted to say shush.)

So, the next question has to be, what makes someone have noisy energy?

5 Quick Hacks to Calm Your Nervous System

A Guide to the Empath Awakening

The nervous system plays a crucial role in coordinating and regulating our bodily functions.

It consists of two main parts: the central nervous system (CNS), which includes the brain and spinal cord, and the peripheral nervous system (PNS), which encompasses all the nerves outside the CNS.

The nervous system is responsible for functions such as memory, learning, and emotional regulation.

By having a snack containing protein and fat (not sugar), it can help stabilise your blood sugar.

Why Natural Daylight Matters to Sensitive People

Have you noticed how more and more people are talking about the benefits of getting natural daylight?

A subject that was little heard of a year ago is fast becoming more mainstream.

In 2023, I shared a post on daylighting (Going outside first thing in the morning.), and how it had an incredible impact on me in a very short space of time. Read more here.

Because it is such an important subject, and because I truly believe in its benefits, today I am back sharing some more information and how to make the most out of sunlight.

THE EMPATH UNVEILED

I love going out, in my garden, first thing in the morning. It brings so much peace into my day.

Here in Manchester, the tree pollen count has been quite high this past month. Unfortunately, this means I can’t stay out as long as I would normally. (Even with the use of high dose Nettle, and other homeopathic blends. I don’t like using antihistamines unless absolutely necessary.)

But still, I probably get around fifteen minutes, first thing. This seems enough to set up my circadian rhythm for the day. I also get out for five or ten minutes here and there through the day if I can.

To me, this shows how a short time outdoors can be enough to work its magic. Or in other words, we don’t have to spend hours outside to reap the benefits of natural light.

Photo by Sebastian V. on Pexels.com

Nor does the sun have to be shining. Which is good, considering this part of the world seems intent on rationing our sunshine.

Countless health professionals are now realizing the incredible health benefits of natural light and sunlight. As well as spending more time outdoors in nature.

We are always exposing ourselves to blue light from artificial lighting. Our phones and computers are the worst culprits. This exposure upsets the release and rhythm of our hormones, especially cortisol, melatonin, and lepton.

These are our master hormones that we really do not want to offset. But so many of us do without even realizing. This can be behind the cortisol spikes that, amongst other things, cause anxiety, panic attacks and even weight gain.

In fact, there are many ways that we are negatively impacted by too much blue light, and lack of sunlight.

I came across some information, I think it was on a Wellness Mama email, from a leading expert in biohacking, longevity and health, Kayle Barnes, about natural light exposure that you may find of interest:

And just to add to that list, skin cancer has gone up exponentially since the introduction of suntan creams. Which could be considered baffling, considering that one of the benefits was supposedly protection against skin cancer.

When applying high factor sun creams, we are blocking vitamin D absorption. This vitamin is known to be protective against cancer.

And do we really know how safe these creams are? What chemicals are in them? Everything that goes on our skin tends to get inside our bodies.

Now am I suggesting to go outside and spend us much time in the sun as possible unprotected?

No.

Too much of a good thing is not always good. And, let’s face it, the sun always warns us. It makes our skin resemble a tomato when we have had enough.

The Benefits

So, what are the benefits of being exposed to natural light for Sensitive people?

CHANGE YOUR LIFE WITH DAYLIGHT

Well, firstly, we receive the same benefits that everyone else does. But by lowering high cortisol levels it goes a long way to bringing us back into balance.

Being Sensitive means we have a lot of emotional upheaval to deal with. This can cause high cortisol. It can also lead to physical or mental issues. Allowing the power of the sun to rebalance us, naturally, can only be a good thing.

And this is where practicing of daylighting really helps. Getting outdoors is first thing is probably the safest time of day.

Daylighting is one of those things that, in my opinion, the more you practice the better results you experience. But I also advocate Earthing (Grounding) at the same time. I’ve done it both ways and connecting to the Earth simultaneously really does bring in something special to the mix.

So, if you haven’t already got into a daylighting routine, here’s some tips on how to best make the most out of your morning/daytime practice:

  • Go outside as soon as you wake up. Before you turn on any lights, your phone or your computer. Look in the direction of the sun (not directly at it). It doesn’t matter if there are buildings or mountains in the way. As long as you are looking towards sunrise, you will get the benefit.
  • If you can’t get outside, open a window, pop your head out, and look in the direction of sunrise.
  • Take your morning brew outside with you and use it as your come around time. When you sit quietly, with no distractions, it is amazing the kind of insights that you receive.
  • Try Earthing at the same time. Do it both ways. With and without. See the difference for yourself.
  • Take a grounding and energising crystal outside with you, such as Black Obsidian and Clear Quartz. Focus on their energy, and see how they work. Again, this is one of those things that you can try daylighting with and without and see for yourself if there’s any more benefits.
  • Keep an umbrella and a blanket on hand. It can get chilly first thing, especially if you are connecting to a cold ground, and if it starts to rain you’ve got it covered.
  • Take Sunshine snacks throughout the day. This works especially well if you work indoors. Ten minutes here and there throughout the day all adds up.
  • And finally, use good blue light blocking glasses when using your phones or computers. This isn’t something you would do outside. But it is especially important to use them before sunrise or after sunset. This will also help keep circadian rhythms in check.

Have you tried daylighting yourself?

If so, what benefits have you had?

Let’s take back control of our health and happiness naturally!

Until next time.

Good News for Empaths

Greetings all.

I trust this post finds you well.

Today, I’m back with some exciting news about my blog posts.

Having been writing articles for Empaths for over fourteen years (as I type), most of the articles are as relevant today as when they were first written. Yet, so much of this information is tucked away on my blog not getting seen by those in need.

So, I thought it would be a good idea to put all of my posts together and make them available to download on Kindle in book form. I have named it, The Empath Archives.

The thing is, search engines can’t be relied on anymore to get us to the websites where we need to go with the information that can be of help to us.

The sad part about all this is that the smaller writers/researchers, nutritionists, energy workers, or people who have made discoveries about energy, health or wellbeing, that is a safer alternative to modern medicine, are rarely given a platform. Even though it was our work that helped build the internet into what it is today.

Whenever I do any searches these days, I tend to get shown the same non-helpful websites over and over. And that is not to mention all the AI produced writings that can be untrustworthy.

I now prefer to watch podcasts on YouTube or listen to Spotify. But the podcasts can be long. And although the content may be incredible, it is time that many of us just don’t have to spare.

It also doesn’t help that the way the internet is designed is to keep distracting us with information it knows will keep us online, which means a search that we wanted to take minutes can take hours.

Another reason for me putting my blog posts together in eBook form.

I have compiled the information in one place so that you don’t need to spend hours on the internet searching for answers about your Sensitive ways or about ways to get in balance.

EMPATH LIFE

Every day, week, month and year of Empath life can pose a different challenge. And we all need reminders (myself included) of what could be negatively impacting us, and/or what steps we could take to stay safe and sane.

As I’m sure you are aware, Empath life often feels like a double-edged sword. On the one hand we have incredible encounters and insights that few will ever experience, and on the other, we endure emotional energy and overwhelm that can at times be crippling, and affects our quality of life.

Experiencing the emotional energy of those we come into contact with impacts our biology. Meaning, our immune system is compromised and our hormones can become overworked, which can eventually lead to anything from depression to physical health problems.

However, it is difficult to know what we need to heal for each given situation, and that is what I also hope to offer with this compilation.

Although I have already published several books, on certain subjects, I’m hoping this will serve as a speed guide. A way to get information to you quickly.

For example, you may need to know if you are experiencing psychic attack or a low mood, you may need reminding on how to use tapping to clear your emotions, or find easy ways to get grounded when you are busy.

The navigation pane is all you need to find where you need to go.

The reason I have written so many articles, over the years, is because Empath life can come with so many hurdles to overcome. Constant changes in our world in the way of new technology, EMF, chemicals, and GM food (to name a handful), impact us, as well as other people, and the energy they emit, which means we constantly have to find new ways to stay on top.

That’s not to mention what challenges come from our changing hormones and aging. What worked for you five years ago, may not help today.

Because I am an eternal researcher, I am continuously discovering new information, which I try and also share with my readers.

I really do love sharing my discoveries with other Sensitive people. It’s my way of quietly putting back into the world what I have learnt and find of value.

As there are so many posts on my blog, I have split them between two e-books. I tried them all in one place at first, then decided that that many articles in one place could be overwhelming. It was also easier for me to edit. That said, there are still 100 posts within the first edition.

For the reason that it is being published on Amazon Kindle, there has to be a small charge, which I am putting at the lowest available price for my readers. For the first four weeks, the cost will be $2.99. It will go up later on.

The release date is today, the 30st March 2025.

The link is to the US Kindle store, but it is available in the worldwide Kindle stores.

If it’s something you think might be of interest, click on the link. If not, no worries. I still intend to continue with my posts.

Thanks.

Until next time.

Diane

DOES THIS DESCRIBE YOU? Signs of a Very Sensitive Person

I hope you’re all keeping well, in whatever corner of the world you reside.

Today I want to discuss some things Sensitive people do.

I’m sure if you’re an Empath, or HSP, you will have already seen the list of Empath traits. However, the following, is something that could also describe an Empath or Sensitive person, yet they might not be something you’ve given much thought to.

So, let’s take a look at what they are…

1. You become deeply touched by the kindness of others

This is something many people could admit to, but for a Sensitive person a simple act of unexpected kindness can blow them away. Often bringing tears to their eyes in the process.

2. You have to avoid certain films because of their impact

Violence on the TV, or anything overly heart-wrenching, where someone is emotionally suffering, can be difficult to observe for a Sensitive person. It can create a massive stress response within the body and even a cortisol spike, which can sometimes trigger insomnia.

10 Ways to Trigger an Empath

3. You anticipate others’ needs

Sensitive people often sense what another person needs before they’ve had chance to realise it for themselves. However, it is often the case that most people do not want to be told what they need, because it would probably mean giving up something or someone that they do not want to give up. They usually have to figure it out for themselves.

4. You find it near impossible to just brush something off

If someone has upset or irritated you, it can linger in the mind for days, weeks or even years. The mind replays what the heart can’t delete, which means a Sensitive person finds it difficult to ignore having being hurt or angered by another. You might forgive, but don’t forget.

5. You dissect conversations

This can be the words of others or your own. Hearing things that aren’t actually said but are intended are indeed a trait of a Sensitive person. But it can also mean that you dissect your own words and replay your conversations, worrying how they might have been wrongly perceived or caused offence.

6. You find it difficult to express your true feelings

Anyone who is Sensitive has a huge well of feelings that often go undeclared. This can be for many reasons. Fear of rejection, not being able to articulate your truth, reading whether the other person is able to process the information, or indeed, if they are interested in listening to what you have to say.

7. You feel peoples’ emotions

This goes without saying for anyone who considers themselves to be an Empath, but always deserves a mention. Feeling people’s emotional energy will seem strange to anyone who doesn’t experience it. And although everyone normally feels the vibes of people or places, a Sensitive person feels them in surplus.  Read more here.

Can An Empath Really Feel Other People’s Emotions?

8. You need time to recover after socialising

Social events can cause a hangover whether alcohol was consumed or not. This is because you pick up the emotional energy of others, and often take it in. Also, too much time spent around many people, in a relatively small space, can trigger the stress hormones. If adrenaline or cortisol are triggered, they can cause sleeplessness. And that is despite the fact you may feel incredible fatigue after socialising. A social hangover could take several days to recover from.

9. You get deeply moved by the arts or certain music

A song you love can bring you to tears, or overwhelmed with emotion, and it will replay in your mind over and over. Observing inspirational or colourful artwork can leave you mesmerised by its effects. You may not necessarily consider yourself to be an artsy person, but certain pieces of art or sculpture can draw you in and keep you intrigued by the hidden story within.

10. You notice details that no one else does

This is not so much in a critical way, you would just see something, like a picture not sitting straight on a wall, or perhaps an object looking out of place or that was moved.

11. You’re prone to overthink everything

A Sensitive person’s mind can sometimes feel like it has been given a steroid injection. It can whizz around for hours on a simple idea. Roaming from one thought to another. This is especially evident at night-time and can be linked with number 5 on the list about dissecting conversations.

Why are So Many Empaths Experiencing Information Overload?

12. Confrontation with others makes you uncomfortable

Confrontation can leave a Sensitive person reeling with discomfort. This is for the reason that confrontation often leads to conflict or a quarrel. Any type of argument will never benefit a Sensitive person, and they try to avoid them. But the downside to this it can lead to feelings of resentment or excess stress from holding things within.

13. You say sorry a lot

Sensitive people don’t want others to feel uncomfortable, so will apologise even when something is not their fault or even for no real reason at all. For example, you may be in a supermarket and someone blocks your path, but you will be the one to apologise for the inconvenience.

14. If you have discomfort in your body your focus always returns to it

Being Sensitive generally means you feel everything more powerfully, and this includes pain. When you feel a discomfort somewhere in your body it can be hard to take your mind off it, and it may mean you worry more about it than you should.

15. Your senses are heightened

You may smell things more powerfully, or colours might appear brighter, you might even be more sensitive to differing heats. This is simply because everything is energy vibrating at different frequencies, and that includes scents, colours, and even temperatures, and Sensitive people tune into all types of energy.

7 Secrets of the Sensitive

So, there you go. How many did you identify with? And, if nothing else, this list is some more food for thought on your Sensitive Empath ways.

Stay happy and healthy.

Until next time.

Breaking Down the Law of Attraction for Empaths

We all vibrate at different frequencies. We attract into our lives anything of a similar vibration.

The more we work on ourselves in the mind, body and spirit, the faster we vibrate.

When we face our past hurts with truth, or when we become aware of the consequences of our actions and work to become a better person, or when we give up that which does not serve our body and mind, we become a better version of ourselves, and this speeds up our energetic vibration.

When we’ve done a lot of work on ourselves, we generally feel happier and healthier, and being around negativity or dark vibes (lower vibration) feels awful, and we energetically invite in a better life.

Yet, just because we’ve done the work, it does not make us invincible; we can still be drawn back into negative thinking and negative ways. And, let’s face it, this modern world is designed to keep triggering us in nasty ways.

The more we focus on negative issues, the more negativity we find.

Distracting ourselves or disengaging from anything that darkens our thoughts is not always easy. And when we stay too long in dark mental spaces we attract back more of the same.

This is also known as the law of attraction  (LOA),.

I know there are many people, who have turned away from the law of attraction for the reason they did not get the promised results by adhering to the rules. I myself got very disillusioned by it all.

Many years ago, I read all the books that I could get my hands on, on the subject of the LOA. I then followed the rules laid out. I did the positive mantras and meditations, and tried to stay on top of negative thinking. But it didn’t seem to work. My life didn’t get more positive and I wasn’t any happier. It wasn’t until many years later that I came to understand why.

Through my research and self-trials, I developed such an understanding of the LOA that it prompted me to write a book on the subject, which I published in 2018. If you want to read more about it click on the link.

My research helped me understand all the nuances of the law. And how things are never as they really seem.

For example; I once knew a girl whose father was incredibly rich; he owned a beautiful big yacht that his crew would sail all over the Med. I assumed he must be super-contented in life, but she told me her father was not truly fulfilled. He always wanted more. When he sailed into affluent ports, there would always be a bigger better yacht, than his, moored up. He measured his worth by his wealth. So, when someone had more than him, it made him feel inferior. He continued to amass his fortune, but never really felt complete inside. To the world, he would be seen as the ultimate success story, but appearances are so deceiving.

We come to learn that the best things in life really are free. Material possessions offer little nourishment for the soul. Money really can’t buy health, happiness and inner peace. It just makes life more comfortable. But the vast  majority see wealth as the ultimate goal in life and a guaranteed passageway to happiness.

Another puzzle with the LOA, is that bad things happen to good people which may make one question, where is the law working in that?

Bad things happen to good people. And good things happen to bad people. And yes, some people do cruel things to defenceless children or animals.

This is when the LOA doesn’t seem to make sense. Why do innocents suffer so?

I don’t have an answer for that.

But we don’t know how the law of karma has played out in these situations or indeed what the individuals soul contracts are.

It also seems baffling when some people, who are not nice, do well in life. They may have a life that most could dream of and have people pander to their every whim. How is the law of attraction working there? If they are bad people, should they not be vibrating at a low frequency and attracting awful stuff?

This is when we can see how the law of attraction really works. It shows how our beliefs and what we carry inside, emotionally, creates our world.

Let me explain:

If you ask an Empath what they feel when around a psychopath and some narcistic types (grandiose), they will tell you they don’t feel much emotionally. Why? because these types have no remorse, they don’t have shame or a guilty conscience, and they don’t have pained emotions buried deep within. (That’s why, to an Empath, they almost feel clean. They may sense a darkness around them, but not from their emotions.) These types have big egos, and they believe in themselves 100%. They work the LOA to their advantage without even trying. They truly believe they are entitled to a fabulous lifestyle, and this is what many of them create, whilst stepping over anyone who gets in their way. But karma eventually comes around.

Having been observing the world for many years, I’ve seen the law of attraction and karma work over and over. People may seem to get away with the bad things they’ve done for years, then, suddenly, karma catches up.

The slower someone vibrates, the slower their karmic return, and this is why it takes many, many years for some to ‘reap what they sew’.

Adhere to the Law

I don’t know everyone’s understanding of the LOA, but I expect most people think: we attract back to us what we focus on. Which is correct. And if we stay in a positive mindset, we can attract back what we want. Which is also correct. But there is so much more to it than that.

For one thing, what many people think they want (ego) is not what the heart wants (soul), and this causes a contradiction within one’s energy. Also, many of us carry buried pain within that we are not aware of. We’ve carried it for so long, and buried it so deeply, that we don’t even realize it’s there. We also have many triggers that activates this buried pain which affects our thoughts and feelings.

How we think is often affected by the way we feel. But how we feel isn’t just affected by our thoughts. Our hormones, past traumas, diet, the people we hang out with, prescription drugs, environmental factors, sleeping habits, levels of Sensitivity, and more, all have a massive impact on how we think and feel, and thus what energy we emit.

It is very difficult to just change our way of thinking, when we have so many other factors controlling our thoughts. Also, even with the best intentions, the majority of the time we have no idea what or when we are thinking. And it is often our feelings that ignite our thoughts.

The Importance of Empaths Avoiding Stress

So, for this reason, many people give up on the law of attraction and trying to keep their energy clean, in a matter of weeks or months.

To see the LOA work, we have to make changes and stick with them, forever, but not with just our thoughts, and that’s where most people come unstuck and end up giving up.

I know if I hadn’t experienced dark times, I would not have pushed myself forward to be where I am now. Many good things come out of negative situations. I am a big believer in that.

However, we don’t need to continually have unnecessary negative emotions and experiences to grow. And when I say unnecessary, I mean the negativity that is perpetually stirred up in the world, designed to keep us down.

Goals

The ultimate goal is to evolve out of suffering by making the appropriate changes.

I’m not saying once we’ve done the work, we will never have a negative experience again, or that we won’t have those uncomfortable hunches that lead us away from unnecessary situations, but we should avoid festering within negativity that has been purposely stoked up, if we want to live happily and healthily.

I have written many times before that Empaths tend to have certain negative experiences for the exact reason that it keeps us evolving. The more work we do on ourselves, the faster we vibrate, and these negative experiences should lessen.

Luckily, we can come to recognise the difference between an experience that is meant to help us evolve, and negativity that is continually stirred up to keep us distracted and divided.

The Purpose of Being Distracted and Divided

Yet even when we have raised our vibration, it is very easy to dip back into dark thoughts and feelings, if we allow ourselves, because of our emotional memories and negativity bias (preference to focus on negativity). Which impacts the way the law of attraction works for us.

Those in control, who stir up negativity, know about the negativity bias, and they know how to draw humans into emotional suffering. When we stay within the realm of dark thinking, not only does it prevent us from evolving, it will weaken the body, and make life so much more difficult than it needs to be.

When it comes to the law, we have to consider that none of us really knows what we set out to experience in life, but choosing to keep our outlook and thoughts more positive, and not dipping into unnecessary negativity it will most definitely make our reality nicer, whether we live in rags or riches.

Understanding how the LOA works for an Empath, and for anyone else for that matter, is important if we want to avoid unnecessary unhappiness. And the best starting point is working to become the best version of ourselves, avoid our triggers and understand what lowers or raises our vibration.

Here are 5 things that will help:

  • Avoid triggers (e.g. certain people, social media or negative news outlets)
  • Do more of what makes you feel good (e.g. yoga, a long bath, a walk in nature, grounding, etc.)
  • Smile at strangers (it’s incredibly uplifting.)
  • Avoid negative self-talk (e.g. I’m overweight, I’m ill, my back aches, the world is a mess, etc.)
  • Start your day with a positive thought (e.g. today will be amazing!)

Obviously, this is a vast subject that takes much more than one post to cover, but I hope it acts as a reminder to stop focusing on your weak points or frustrations, and focus on how incredible you really are.

You have faced and overcome so much in life that you really should be proud of yourself!

And remember, if you want to change the world, change your energy!!!!

How Empaths Can Overcome Daily Struggles

Life as an Empath not only involves being susceptible to over-feeling emotional energy, it also goes hand in hand with being a Highly Sensitive Person. Which ultimately means we have the predisposition to be sensitive to everything.

For example, we can be more sensitive to chemicals in food, or in our products and the environment. We can also be more sensitive to electrical energy and WIFI. Basically, most things that are manufactured or inauthentic can weaken those of a Sensitive nature.

Over-feeling all types of energy can also mean we get sick easier than most, or our symptoms tend to be felt more acutely. Let me explain: Continue reading

What is the Empath Gag Response?

I think the title of this post gives away what I’m going to discuss today.

Yes, the Empath Gag Response.

I’m sure all you lovely Empaths have experienced it at one time or another.

And it has to be said, it’s not always a nice experience.

There are several layers to this, so let’s dive in.

Firstly, I will start by saying, the gag response, is something similar to morphing.

I have a post discussing this, below, but to briefly explain:

Because many Empaths inadvertently pick up other people’s energy, this energy can include beliefs and character traits. They then take them on and can unintentionally morph their personality to fit the mental impressions coming from another.

When an Empath starts morphing, their behaviour changes. They talk in ways not typical of their usual self, they feel different and sense they are acting out of character but cannot shake it off. Continue reading

10 Ways to Trigger an Empath

As I’m sure you’re more than aware, depending on how an Empath is feeling will depend on what face they show to the world. They can be prone to mood swings, especially if they’ve taken on too much emotional energy, and in some cases, they might appear quiet or even miserable (and that’s without being triggered,) simply from being emotionally overloaded.

I have discussed trauma triggers for an Empath in the past, but today I want to focus on some other causes and reactions an Empath might have from being triggered; for example, having a reaction that incites a spur-of-the-moment wave of anger or simply a spike in their emotions.

Getting triggered is not something unique to an Empath. Everyone gets triggered at some point, that’s just part of being human.

For an Empath, however, these triggers can be things that most other people wouldn’t be affected by, and it might be puzzling to them why they happen.

So, that’s what we are going to look at in this list of 10 ways to trigger an Empath. And the first one is:

1. Having Their Energy Bubble Invaded

When you step into an Empath’s energy bubble, or come too close uninvited, they will not appreciate it, whether you are a stranger or not.

Empaths tend to protect their personal space for the reason that anyone stepping into it can trigger a reaction. This in itself can be enough to spike their emotions in weird ways. Continue reading

A GREAT DRINK TO HELP EMPATHS

Because most Empaths are affected by emotional stress, in some way or another, we are prone to having higher levels of cortisol.

As I’ve discussed in many past posts, cortisol is an essential hormone that, amongst other things, regulates the body’s stress response.

However, when we regularly experience heightened cortisol levels, through repeated stress spikes, it can cause cortisol resistance. This means our hormone signals don’t do the job they should, and the adrenals go into overdrive pumping out more and more cortisol, which can lead to problems such as depression, anxiety, brain fog and memory problems, insulin resistance, inflammation, or weight gain.

This is a subject I keep coming back to, both in posts and books, because it is so important for our health and wellbeing, and is a subject many Empaths are unaware of.

WHY DO SO MANY EMPATHS SUFFER ADRENAL FATIGUE?

The thing is, everyone experiences stress. It is part and parcel of life. Yet, as Empaths, we are at a disadvantage because we can pick up on stress from others as well as having our own to deal with. Continue reading

Empath Intuition and How to Develop It

Having strong intuition, we can trust, is so beneficial when navigating the turbulent journey of Empath life. Luckily, Empaths are born with a powerful sense of awareness which we can continue to build over the course of our lives.

When it comes to making life-decisions, tuning into our intuition and developing it saves us a lot of unnecessary difficulties. It guides us towards the right path, prevents us from making poor choices and keeps us away from those who would do us harm.

Our intuition also helps explain life’s complexities and gives greater understanding of why we are here and what our purpose is.

Each of us is important and unique, and the paths we walk are individual to us.

In the early stages of discovering our Empath ways we might need suggestions to point us in the right direction. But in the grander scheme, the best person to guide us to uncover our true path is our self.

Developing intuition gives you the ability to hear your quiet guiding voice, and not the ego’s, which can then guide you towards the path that is right for you. Continue reading
