Why Do So Many Empaths Feel Unble to Connect With Others?

If you are one of the many Empaths who feel unable to make real connections with people, or with life itself, know that you are not alone and that there is a reason for it.

We don’t always realize, but life is a series of linked events; each one leading to the next, like the spots on a dot-to-dot puzzle. Yet, most are unaware that the seemingly random occurrences of life and a feeling of ‘disconnect’ are in any way pivotal to the course of our destiny…

Because the mind is kept so busy trying to make sense of life’s conundrums,  we are often kept from connecting the dots on our unique and mysterious life puzzle. Our Empath sensitivities may also prevent us from seeing how amazing our lives are, or how this sense of ‘disconnectedness’ serves us.

pexels-photo-48566.jpeg

The majority of us work hard trying to figure out life. We may wonder where our true purpose lies or we may constantly find ourselves looking at ways to better fit in with others. It may even feel like we are not on the ‘right path’.

Why do so many Empaths feel disconnected?

It may certainly seem that the Empath is destined to go through life feeling off-course, unfulfilled, overwhelmed, or unable to connect. There are many things that come with being an Empath that makes them push people away: getting hurt easily, feeling others’ emotional pain, and being a beacon for other people’s problems being but a few. This in itself can lead to feelings of being disconnected.

It is easy to forget that we came here for a reason: to experience life as an Empath, and the many challenges that go with it, because we get distracted by the obstacles we face.

Empath life is often strenuous, painful, overly emotional, sometimes lonely and often comes with a huge sense of disconnect from others. Which is ironic considering we feel the energy of people so powerfully. But, when we allow ourselves to see it, Empath life is also enlightening, invigorating, electrically charged and a true gift.

Empaths can boast of life experiences few can expect to have. We feel things others don’t and we have a strong sense of intuition that will take us to all the right places, if we believe in it and follow its guidance.

pexels-photo-273037.jpeg

Sometimes, we purposely make life more difficult for ourselves, without realizing. And sometimes we allow ourselves to wallow in self-pity or we get stuck in victim mentality. We may also subconsciously choose to ignore what we need to do to keep us safe and sane on our journey. But the keys to our happiness and ‘reconnection’ are always there for us to find, when we are ready.

So, to get to the reason for not feeling connected to others: Being disconnected keeps us moving forward, looking for ways to better ourself or find the answers. If we were to feel extremely contented and comfortable in life, we would not look for ways to become empowered.

As an Empath, it is easy to see dark or challenging times as punishments, but when we come through the other side we always find an incredible gift inside the experience.

The experiences we have, really are unique, and every difficulty we have endured and overcome has catapulted us forward, shaping the course of our life.

When we connect the dots of our past, we  see a bigger picture emerge. Everything happens for a reason.  Even feeling disconnected shapes and changes us, pushing us towards evolvement.

Listen to your soul, tune into your intuition and don’t be afraid to make the changes you know that will reconnect you to your truth, purpose and happiness, and in turn others.

Why it’s Difficult to Explain Who You Are as An Empath

A question that has come up on my blog, and on Facebook, is how to better explain to others who we are as Empaths. Although I have written about the subject in the past, I feel it’s a good time to revisit the topic, because it can be such a frustrating part of Empath life.

When we awaken to our Empath ways, everything we’ve experienced emotionally and physically, when around people, finally makes sense. We understand our need for time alone, why we feel such crazy energy when in busy places, and why we experience such overpowering emotions when with certain people. We come to accept our ‘inner knowing’ as the incredible guiding force it is and stop fighting or ignoring the intuition that comes with it.

We often become so excited by our newfound knowledge that we want to tell the world. We have an explanation for all the inexplicable things we’ve experienced, throughout life, and we now know we are not the only ones. However, we quickly come to discover that discussing the ways of an Empath is no easy feat. Learning who we are, it would seem, was the easy part of the journey.

We may try to explain what we now know about our traits to others. The reasoning behind our Empath ways is so simple, why wouldn’t anyone else understand? But when we try to describe ourselves it doesn’t always go the way we hoped. And when we see others struggling to comprehend our explanations it causes us more frustration. We may then try to overexplain ourselves, struggling to find the key words to convince the other of our validity. Yet the more details we give the more discouraged we become. Sadly, the reason people don’t hear is not just because they don’t understand, but because too often their ears are closed to the subject.

Although we like to believe we live in a world of free speech, opinion and thought, it is clearly not the case (I do believe this is changing though. It tends to get worse before better). We regularly see those who don’t follow the herd, or agree with the majority, who are attacked or ridiculed. So, it is hardly surprising some Empaths fear talking openly about their traits.

People can be very closed-minded as well as fearful of acknowledging the minority. And it doesn’t help that the greatest prisons we live in is the fear of what others think of us. (Read why Empaths are hurt by criticism here).

If you’ve been an awakened Empath for some years, you will no doubt already know that explaining who you are and what you feel, can be gruesomely tricky. Most Empaths quickly come to realize that the subject of being ‘Sensitive to energy’ and the emotions of others is just too ‘out there’ for some people to consider.

The lack of interest about the ways of an Empath, may come as a surprise to the newly awakened. But the longer you walk this weird and wonderful path the more sense it makes.

Just because we are ready to accept who we are, does not mean those around us are. Even if they don’t verbalise their discomfort at our revelations, we always sense a lack of acceptance or a quiet rejection, even at it’s most subtle. Continue reading

Ever Wondered Why You Continue to Suffer as an Empath?

pexels-photo-551588.jpeg

Have you tried all types of grounding or protective techniques, as an Empath, and find nothing works? Or have you found you are more negatively affected when spending time around certain people than you ever have been?

Have you considered the possibility that you may be suffering with leaky aura syndrome?

Most Empaths come to realize they have a leaky aura when they experience near-constant exhaustion, after spending little time around people. The grounding and protection techniques, they try, don’t make any difference to how they feel or experience the emotional energy of others. They may have even become so sensitive that they struggle to enjoy life.

Anyone whose auric field is congested, particularly with negative energy, may eventually develop auric permeability. But it is not just negative energy that causes the problem. In fact, when a person’s aura is permeable the problem often originated within the body. The biggest contributors are excessive stress, emotional pain, poor lifestyle choices, bad people, toxic environments and food.

After a lifetime of being Sensitive, and the challenges that go with it, the Empath’s body becomes less resilient (especially evident after the age of thirty). A weakened body weakens the energy field and is a major contributor to leaky aura.

The auric field is affected by your thoughts, feelings, actions and words. And because of the law of attraction, depending on the way you think and feel will determine what you draw into your life.

If as an Empath, you have leaky aura syndrome, and are unaware of it, you have little control over what you attract. You will struggle to protect yourself from the low-level vibrations in your environment; they seep into your energy field even when you work to stop them. You then vibrate at this same frequency, drawing in more of the same.

Should the Empath Become Vegetarian?

There is much debate within the Empath world as to whether meat should be consumed. Many Empaths find themselves naturally drawn to vegetarianism, even from a young age. Some even become strict vegans, others may eat only chicken or fish.

However, as each Empath is affected differently by their consumption of meat, chicken and fish it is a choice they have to make for themselves as to whether they consume.

The majority of Empaths will question their meat intake at some point on their journey, even if they like the taste. And this often comes down to their love and respect for nature and the animal kingdom, as well as the fact that consuming animals can feel  wrong.

It has to be said, we live in a barbaric world where animals eat animals, fish eat fish, and insects eat insects to survive… and yes, humans eat animals (and, in some rare cases, other humans). But these days more people, and not just the Sensitive, are choosing to stop eating meat because of the way animals are treated.

It is not just because of their love of animals that turns an Empath away from eating meat, whether they realize this or not, it’s often because they feel the energy of an animal when they eat its flesh.

Some are so Sensitive that they can even feel the energy of an egg and will avoid eating them too.

If an animal suffered or felt much fear before being slaughtered, it can cause depression and low emotions in the Empath who consumes its meat. The bigger the animal the more this energy is felt.

These emotions are normally experienced soon after consumption, within minutes or hours. One may feel weepy, sorrowful, irritation or experience waves of anger. You may even find yourself more ‘touchy’ to the energy of your surroundings.

That said, some are little affected. It really depends on one’s level of Sensitivity and the type of animal produce. For example: some Empaths may eat chicken or fish and feel no ill-effects, but if they eat meat, derived from a cow or pig, it greatly affects their moods.

It is probably safe to say should you develop low emotions soon after eating meat, avoidance may be the best option for you.

I eat chicken and fish, and very little meat. I would prefer to be vegetarian, and for some time I was, but it didn’t suit my health. I have an autoimmune disorder and a leaky gut, which I can control through my diet. I find most vegetarian proteins cause a negative bodily reaction (Click here to learn about Empaths reacting to vegan food). And because of the environment I live in, I tend to stay overly responsive.

Leaky gut and autoimmune disease are conditions common among Sensitive people. After experiencing a lifetime’s worth of heightened emotions and sensitivities, the gut, which is the area of the seat of emotions, weakens. Because of the amount of chemicals in our atmosphere and diet, and the foods that have been genetically altered, we become vulnerable to developing physical and energetic weaknesses.

[In brief, if you suffer with a leaky gut, the lectins in many vegetarian foods trigger a reaction that allows food particles, that should stay inside the gut, to leak out into the body. This causes an immune response. When this happens regularly it eventually leads to an autoimmune disease, where the immune system attacks the organs and glands. For the Empath, this opens another can of worms, igniting unbalanced chakras and a permeable aura.]

Should you choose to eat meat, fish, chicken or even dairy products, you are best eating the finest quality organic pasture-raised produce. Not only because the animals will have been better looked after but because of the amount of chemicals pumped into most livestock.

Over 80% of all produced antibiotics are given to livestock. And up to 20 different medications and vast quantities of hormones could be present in non-organic meat and dairy. The antibiotics and hormones found within animal produce are causing people many health problems. They are known to be endocrine disruptors. And anything which is an endocrine disruptor upsets the balance of hormones within the body. This in turn disrupts the health of the chakras and weakens the auric field (meaning you pick up more energy from others).

So, as already noted, should you choose to eat animal produce it is probably best to consume the finest quality.

The last thing you want, as an Empath, is  for your diet to destabilize your aura and debilitate your chakras.  Empath life already comes with enough hurdles as it is. (You may want to read this post on how unbalanced chakras can weaken the Empath)

What is the Real Connection Between an Empath and a Narcissist?

When I started writing for the Empath, back in 2011, there was very little material available on the subject, and this is what drove my compilation of  the ‘Traits of an Empath’. I wanted to help other Empaths understand who they were and discover why they felt all they did. I also wanted to share what had helped me.

It doesn’t seem so long ago that the word ‘Empath’ was a rarely mentioned term. But we can see how that’s changed in recent years. Thousands, if not millions, have discovered who they are as Empaths with all the information now available.

However, with this Empath uprising there also seems to have been an upsurge with the ‘dark side of sensitive’. This can be observed with the rise of the narcissist and those encompassing narcissistic traits.

What Makes a Narcissist?

Although the term narcissism originally stemmed from having extreme vanity, today it represents so much more:

The definition of a narcissist is: a psychological condition characterised by self-preoccupation, high self-esteem, a distinct lack of empathy, excessive self-admiration and a tendency towards selfish or resentful behaviours. But there are many more traits associated with this type of disposition such as: one-sidedness, a manipulative nature, unrealistic expectations of others, excess need for control, and a huge sympathy deficiency. In some cases, the traits of a narcissist match up with a psychopath.

The Empath Connection

Where you find an Empath, you often find a narcissist nearby… or at least those who display several narcissistic tendencies.

In fact, if an Empath takes a look into their past they normally see a pattern of people displaying the above traits throughout their lives.

There are some who would argue that an Empath and narcissist are two sides of the same coin. And although I certainly agree that both have heightened levels of sensitivity, they are expressed in opposite ways.

An Empath’s sensitive side may breed and feed their emotional pain, but it also contributes to their consideration, compassion, and abundance of empathy.

The narcissist’s sensitive side also contributes to their inner-pain, but in many cases, their wounds bred bitter, resentful and vengeful tendencies.

And when a narcissist is offended, it is often the result of a wounded ego as opposed to a pained soul — as in the Empath’s case. Continue reading

The Destructive Impact the Media has on an Empath

night-television-tv-theme-machines.jpg

As an Empath, do you feel flat, depressed or outraged after reading newspapers? Do you find your emotions being triggered? Or does your mind become frazzled after spending time on social media or online news outlets?

If you answered yes, you’re not alone. Many Empaths find themselves affected by the streams of negativity filtered out by the media (so much so, many have to avoid them). You’ll probably agree, that in recent times it is getting worse!

These days, there seems to be a never-ending stream of anxiety-inducing stories pumped out by the world’s news outlets, that only serve in causing separation, insecurity, unhappiness or hate (in truth it’s probably always been that way but with online media there is no getting away from it.).

As an Empath, whether you pay attention to the propaganda stirred up by the media or not, you may still be affected by the emotional energy it produces. At times, the energy of which is overwhelming.

We all know the fear mongering, used by the media, is a tactic used to keep people controlled, distracted and divided. There is rarely any information shared that is uplifting, inspiring or ‘feel good’.

It’s as though people are being distracted from their own power… If you keep everyone preoccupied by political opinions, global disasters, wars, and the ‘fabulous lives of the rich and famous’, it keeps people in a low vibrating space.  These types of stories create anger and fear, or they indirectly tell the world that their lives are not good enough or that a life of celebrity is the only way to find happiness and purpose. All of which builds negative energy and conflict!

pexels-photo-518543.jpeg

When conflicts arise, both in the media and out on the streets, a blanket of contagious, dark energy is produced. Which, when at it’s worse, is difficult to avoid, no matter how much you work on staying grounded and protected.

As I mentioned in my last post: negativity generates negativity. Negative emotions are contagious and are subliminally taken on even by those who aren’t Sensitive.

People get swept along by the irrational moods intentionally perpetuated by the media. They breed and feed.  It is a form of gaslighting.

And because the populace is continuously fed more reasons to become fearful, infuriated or dissatisfied, and very little to feel positive and cheerful about, low-level energy continues to escalate.

So, as an Empath, even if you pay little attention to the media or the propaganda it generates, the murky energy stirred up can still leave you feeling overwhelmed, lost or alone. It can seep into your energy field, even during sleep, and its effects may show up as periods of lethargy, low or erratic moods and a sense of disconnection.

As humans, we want to find an explanation for the low moods we experience; and as an Empath, it is easy to blame these dark energies on present life circumstances.

I have already written about this subject in recent months. But as it is a continuing theme, I feel it is right to discuss it again, because of the impact it has on an Empath.

Picking up on dark energy, coming from the masses, is nothing short of exhausting. It is difficult to hide from even with the best intentions.

When affected by ‘global negativity’ it prevents an Empath (and even those not of a Sensitive nature) from staying in their true power. And if distracted from one’s true power, we cannot find the peace, happiness and balance we are meant for.

Part of overcoming the low vibrational energy, constantly stirred up in the world, is to keep mind, body and spirit strong. Eat good food, exercise, meditate, stay grounded and keep clearing your energy field.

Also, if ever there was ever a time to keep your mind empowered now is it. A good way to do this, other than the aforementioned, is by focusing on all your strengths, staying positive and being grateful for the small things.

Look to find your hidden super powers and stay focused on them. Like attracts like.

What we focus our attention on grows. When we embrace our positive inner-power, that power will grow. We then project out this positive vibrant energy out into the world.

Coming Soon: Be sure to keep an eye out for my post on leaky aura syndrome and why it is impacting so many Empaths.

Until next time…

9 Important Reasons Why Empaths Should Avoid Negative People

There is no denying it, ‘people stress’ exists. Every one of us has experienced it. And I have no doubt we will have caused people stress to others at some point.

But there are some who seem to enjoy living under a dark cloud and make an occupation out of unpleasantness; they talk malevolently of people, places and pastimes and suck the joy out of life… These are the negative people of the world

Science has acknowledged that just by spending too much time around those who are constantly disapproving or miserable, has an undesirable influence on one’s health and happiness.

There are many studies showing how prolonged ‘people stress’ alters gene expression within the immune system… Meaning: we become sick just by hanging out with angry, gloomy or demoralizing people.

Some doctors now even recommend their patients avoid spending time with those who cause them emotional stress; for the fact they could exacerbate health conditions.

It may seem unkind to suggest avoiding negative people, but here are 9 reasons why you should:

1, Low Moods are Triggered by Emotional Contagion:

Emotional contagion is the phenomenon of having one person’s emotions and linked behaviours trigger similar emotions in others. Meaning: Negativity is contagious.

You can experience other people’s low moods just by spending time with them.

2, You Become a Magnet for Negativity:

Ever wondered why after spending time around negative people you draw more negative situations towards you?

Like attracts like.

When you unintentionally harvest other people’s negativity, through emotional contagion, it often becomes your own. Through the law of attraction, you then attract more.

Negativity breeds negativity!

3, You Experience an Energy Drain:

You may have noticed that when you spend time around negative people you feel cloudy, flat and lethargic.

Many negative people are also energy vampires. Their negativity sucks the energy from you, even after a short time spent in their presence. This drain can leave you feeling low, uninspired and weary.

4, Negative People Contribute to Inflammation:

Stress causes inflammation in the body.

Chronic inflammation has been linked to autoimmune disorders, depression, heart disease and even cancer.

By keeping negative people in your life, who cause you stress, you are causing your body more damage than you know.

5, The Adrenal Glands Weaken:

Although every organ is affected by people stress, the adrenals are one of the first to be impacted.

The adrenals are part of the endocrine system and are responsible for releasing the stress hormones cortisol and adrenaline.

When the adrenals are functioning properly, cortisol is anti-inflammatory, otherwise it has the opposite effect.

By spending time around negative people it causes excessive stress which activates the fight-or-flight system. This system is supposed to keep you safe from harm, giving you the energy to run away or stay and do battle… but there is no danger just people stress. This happening repeatedly not only weakens the adrenals but inhibits the proper release of cortisol and impairs health.

6, Weight Gain:

If you are Sensitive and spend a lot of time around stress-inducing people, your adrenals become impaired, which, as mentioned above, plays havoc with cortisol production and can lead to weight gain.

As well as being known as the stress hormone, cortisol is also called the fat storing hormone.

The weight gain, caused by excess cortisol production, is often seen around the stomach – and a reason many Empaths have a squidgy, pot belly. This fat is difficult to eliminate because it is not caused by eating too much food, so reducing food intake has little effect.

7, Imbalanced or Blocked Chakras

Chakras are also known as energy centres.

The chakras are directly linked to your endocrine glands (glands that release hormones into the body), and people stress is known to impair the endocrine glands.

When any endocrine gland weakens (adrenals for example), it has a knock-on-effect and leads to unbalanced chakras.

Blocked or unbalanced chakras cause many health problems and can also lead to leaky aura syndrome (a problem many Empaths struggle with).

8, Weakened Energy Field:

Also known as the aura or pranic sheath, your energy field emanates around you like a luminous egg-shaped sheath.

The energy field has been defined as a haze or ‘metamolecular space’ that surrounds every living thing.

A healthy energy field keeps good energy in and bad energy out. A weak energy field, however, is porous and leaky, also known as leaky aura syndrome, and allows in too much energy from others.

If you become overly stressed or anxious, when around negative people, you are more at risk of developing a permeable aura. This can cause many unnecessary difficulties in life.

A weakened aura is bad news on many levels for the Empath (see this post to learn more) and by staying away from negative people it will help keep your energy field healthy.

9, Unhappiness and Depression:

It is difficult to stay upbeat when around anyone who drags you down emotionally.

Sensitive people are prone to low moods and depression, and for this – and all the above reasons – the best way to stay happy is by avoiding nasty or unpleasant people.

If you experience guilt at the prospect of avoiding certain negative people, remind yourself you are looking after your health and wellbeing…

You deserve to be happy and healthy!

Remedies

Because complete avoidance of negative people is near impossible, I have included 3 quick recovery remedies that aid relaxation and help switch on the parasympathetic nervous system (system responsible for bringing calm and balance to the body).

Take a Salted, Magnesium, Essential Oil Bath:

This is an incredible combination for instilling calm and overall balance. Salt clears negative energy, it also heals and softens the skin.

Magnesium helps one relax, and boosts energy, supports the endocrine system and aids sleep (quality sleep is essential for repairs).

Choosing an essential oil, such as lavender, further supports deep relaxation.

Still the Mind and Calm the Breath:

When stressed or anxious the breathing becomes erratic and thoughts go into overdrive, this only serves in heightening stress and weakens the body.

To quieten the mind, sit comfortably in a darkened room, with incense or your favourite essential oil burning, and practice alternate nostril breathing. This breathing technique brings instant serenity and quietens a chaotic mind.

Get Outdoors:

An effortless way to restore balance is by simply stepping out in nature (read more here), or by using a technique called Earthing (read more here).

Hope this helps on your journey.

Until next time

How Nature Can Heal An Empath

As an Empath, you will already be aware there is nothing more healing to the body, mind and spirit than being in Nature.

A stroll through a beautiful woodland, over a grassy meadow or near a natural-flowing stream is not only uplifting but it is also grounding.

It is not by chance Empaths love being outdoors. Their inner Knowing guides them towards the Earth’s natural healing power to harness its power.

Spending time in Nature is uplifting for all humans, but to the Empath it activates a special kind of magic. It removes impurities from the energy field and quietens a busy, stressed mind.

Even sitting in your garden listening to the birds sing, whilst eyeing over the vegetation has a clearing and calming influence.

The Crossroads of Empath Change: Unplugging from Hysteria

Photo by Rafael Barros on Pexels.com

You would have to live deep underground to not have noticed the crazy happenings in society.

Almost everyone has been affected in some way or the other by the engulfing mass hysteria that has swept the world.

It is easy to believe most of the craziness is politically fuelled; yet it is my belief, the real reason goes deeper than that.

The world is not a happy place.

The masses are angry and afraid.

Dogmatism and cognitive dissonance is rife. Freedom of speech, freedom of thought and individuality are being suppressed. And the energy of hate is skyrocketing.

People are being silenced. Most are now too scared to speak out about their true beliefs for the fear of being labelled as sexist, stupid, a conspiracy theorist, a racist, or not politically correct.

It certainly feels like all humans are being manipulated to turn on each other. This is not a recent thing. It has been building for a while and will likely continue for many years to come.

We live in a world going through the quickening of change.

These changes are causing trauma, chaos, emotional pain, depression and more.

Although trauma and upheaval may be considered as emotionally damaging, it can lead to growth and spiritual awareness… if we allow it.

Trauma is the first step we take across the tempestuous waters of awakening. Pain is a prelude to birth.

For some, the initial stages of awakening are seen in random behaviours. Two of these being: denial and blame. In the years to come, you will see this behaviour escalating everywhere. People pointing the finger of blame and convincing themselves their problems lie in the hands of another.

Most are so busy avoiding themselves, and instead lashing out at others, that they miss a unique opportunity for transformation.

Suffering is part of the ‘wake-up call’. People far and wide are hearing the sirens of the awakening, and call to change, but it is their choice how the transition goes.

We can choose to wake-up, evolve and grow, or we can choose to stay in denial.

Denial is the ‘seemingly’ comfortable ‘safe’ passage. At least for a while. But it really just prolongs discomfort.

We can’t ignore evolution forever. If we try, things eventually become so bad that we are forced to change.

All humans are presently being fed fuel to stoke up their raging emotions of anger, bitterness and hate. If we engage them, these types of emotions keep us trapped in mental conflict and away from finding peace and harmony.

Evil begets evil. Hate breeds hate. Anger feeds anger. Fear fuels fear. The more of this type of energy people put out into the world the more it grows.

We all have light and darkness within; both love and hate. Whichever we choose to give the most attention to will be the force that guides our feelings, thoughts and choices. Choose wisely. We are the creators of our own reality.

Strange Things Afoot

It is clear there are some seriously strange things happening in the world. (If you’ve read anything about the Mandela Effect you’ll know what I mean).

There is a lot of positive change happening and many truths are being revealed; but we are also being distracted to prevent us from discovering our own power.

Distraction is a powerful tool. When our mind is preoccupied with all the wrongs in the world, we don’t see what is right. And we don’t notice the powerful positive and uplifting energy that is all around us.

crossroads2We are at the crossroads of change. Being a crossroads means we have a choice of which direction to take. We can choose the path of denial and despair or the one of love and gratitude. That choice is often determined by where we place our focus.

You would think it’s a no brainer to choose the positive love energy. But the more people who focus and send out the hate/fear energy the more this builds and the harder it is not to become embroiled in.

For the Empaths, this low-level energy, that has swept the globe, is agonizing to experience. But it can also be perversely alluring; drawing us in without our realizing.

I too have been lured into engaging the distressing and emotionally provoking news, designed to distract, divide and enrage. And yes, I get wound up by it all. I keep having to remind myself to unplug and stay switched off from it. I know I am wasting my time and precious energy by allowing myself to be distracted.

Some might argue that we have a duty to stay informed, we should fight for our rights and silence is consent. And, as much as I may agree, most of what we are being fed is shameful propaganda, which does nothing but feed our darkest emotions and pains the soul.

When we focus on the incredible force of gratitude and love, it is a game changer. We then see more and more positive come into our life through the law of attraction.

By not giving our attention to anything which feeds negative emotions, we free ourselves

Choosing to stay unplugged is the best form of protection at this time. Especially if you are badly affected by all the hysterical energy.

Here are some excellent ways to stay unplugged and keep your energy vibrant:

  • Stay away from the media: Online news, social media and televised news reports can lure you into negative thinking, frustration and anger.
  • Avoid politics: Don’t get involved in dogmatic discussions and avoid those who seem to thrive when politically venting.
  • Steer clear of large groups of people or protests: Mass hysteria is contagious and drags everyone in, even those with the best intentions.
  • Pursue your passions: Do what you love and be creative as often as you can (your own form of distraction).
  • Express gratitude every day throughout the day: Be grateful for anything you can. A delicious meal, a good book or film, or just the traffic lights being on green. Keep pumping this positive energy out.
  • Keep control of the mind: Meditate or do moving meditations like yoga, Thai-chi or dance.
  • Get outdoors: Spend as much time in nature as possible and bask in natural sunlight.

Pain serves us in mysterious ways. We eventually come to a point when we understand why we endured all we have, and we recognize how our pain shaped and changed us for the better. But we don’t need to keep experiencing it over and over. We have a choice. Now is the time to start shaping your new reality by unplugging from the old.

Until next time.

Does an Empath Lead a Double Life?

If you are an Empath, there is a good chance you go through life feeling like you lead a double life. Why? because too often, you end up wearing a ‘mask’ when spending time with certain others.

When I say mask, I’m not talking literally. I simply mean not being one’s true self.

Wearing a mask is a common theme for all humans, but as  most Empaths tend to detest inauthenticity, it may seem a little weird.

I recently read that the Japanese believe that everyone has three faces: The face we show the world, the face we show our family and close friends, and the face we show no one.

It is our hidden face which is apparently our truest reflection.

Many Empaths will probably admit that the only time they are their truest self is when at home or when alone.

But there is a good reason an Empath may hide the truth of themselves behind a mask when with certain people… and it’s not to get them to like us. Continue reading

Earthing: Easy Grounding for the Empath

Staying grounded is essential for keeping an Empath… well… grounded. I was reminded of the incredible benefits grounding has on keeping us balanced and happy, after enjoying a two-week break in the Caribbean.

At the start of the holiday, I thought the best part would be basking in the sunshine whilst binge-reading book after book, but there was more…

When I travel, I often let my daily exercise regime slide. But, on this holiday, I was determined to work-out every day. On our first morning, my husband and I turned up at the hotel’s gym for our pre-breakfast work-out. However, we found the gym to be small, stuffy and super-busy, with no floor-space to do stretches or yoga. We spent more time waiting for the machines than we did working-out. The cramped conditions, however, turned out to be a huge blessing in disguise.

The following morning, I suggested we work-out on the beach instead. Being a big fan of the treadmill and weights, my husband wasn’t keen on the idea, but decided to try it because of the busyness of the gym.

We did a mix of exercises whilst wearing training shoes, but when it came to yoga and stretches, it was time to go barefoot. As soon as I kicked off my shoes and grounded my toes into the sand, I felt an incredible calming yet powerful energy surge through me. In an instant, I remembered the familiar calm that comes with connecting to the Earth. The sensation was also aided by gazing out over the beautiful sea and seeing the palm trees swaying idly on the light salty breeze.

The Earth’s powerful healing energy, I now realize, is something I take for granted or forget about, especially whilst my feet are swathed in socks and sturdy shoes.

Grounding with the earth is also known as Earthing, and is a quick powerful way to harness the Earth’s power.

Earthing has gone from being a somewhat ‘woo-woo’ New Age trend to being a well-researched practice, with a number of proven health benefits.

From the perspective of being an Empath, I have found Earthing has the following positive benefits:

  • Decreases Empath fatigue
  • Reduces EMF (electrical magnetic frequencies caused by televisions, computers, mobile phones, etc.). EMF disrupts bioelectrical functions, often leaving the Empath wired or energetically open.
  • Helps clear unwanted energy picked up from others.
  • Calms the mind. Its grounding effect pulls us down from our heads and reduces repetitive thoughts.
  • Charges us with vibrant energy and positive feelings.
  • Contributes to building a more resilient energy field, which helps repel other people’s energy.
  • Helps balance the chakras.
  • Calms the emotions.

The Science Bit

Studies show the Earth’s negative charge can help stabilize internal bioelectrical functions, which helps prevent disease and offers pain relief.

We are electrical beings. Our bodies produce positive charges, which are harmful in excess. The Earth’s abundant free electrons produce a negative charge which works in being counteractive.

According to scientific theory, when Earthing, we absorb an abundance of negatively charged electrons which prove to have an immediate physiological impact. The electrons have the effect of being anti-inflammatory, antioxidative, and beneficial to regulating to the body’s circadian rhythms.

An article published in ‘The Journal of Environmental and Public Health’ stated the many benefits of Earthing, their research showed the following were improved:

  • Sleep
  • PMS
  • Immune system activity and response
  • Hypertension
  • Chronic muscular and joint pain
  •  Asthma
  • Energy levels
  •  Stress
  •  Arthritis
  • Osteoporosis

Researchers believe the health benefits are derived from Earthing’s anti-inflammatory effect. By the premise that wherever there is illness there is also inflammation: reducing inflammation will reduce disease.

As long as we have a skin on earth connection, by walking, standing, sitting or lying on the ground (grass, earth or beach), it reconnects us with the Earth’s powerful energy. Easy to do in the summer, not so much in the cold and wet winter months.

If you find Earthing beneficial but cannot get outdoors during the winter, a grounding pad, which harnesses the benefits of Earth’s electrons, can be used.

If nothing else, Earthing will make you feel alive and refreshed and is great for staying ‘grounded’.

Until next time.

Diane.

Why the Unusual Empath Reaction to Lies?

Empaths have a strong sense of integrity and they know a lie when they feel it. They also know they shouldn’t lie for personal gain or to manipulate others. Their goal in life may be to live in complete authenticity, but find it difficult to do in a world where dishonesty and corruption are more readily accepted than the truth.

We live in a time where silver-tongued fraudsters are rewarded, and those who speak their truth often get attacked. And because of this, many are afraid of showing who they are or what they believe in.

While the world is filled with deceit and disinformation, something will always feel off to an Empath. But it’s not just living under a corrupt establishment that creates a sense of unease, simply being in the presence of inauthenticity throws the Empath into disarray.

When in the company of those whose words don’t match their vibration, the Empath’s brain tends to scramble. So much so, they may struggle to form a coherent sentence. This mind-numbing effect is caused by the ‘Empathic antenna’ sensing all is not what it seems. It is detecting a person is not showing a true reflection of who they are.

In most cases, when someone creates a fake persona, it is a way to hide a side they believe will be rejected. Every human wants to feel special and loved. And if someone feels unworthy, they may create a ‘face’ they hope will be accepted.

But inauthenticity breeds and feeds. And an initial quest to ‘fit in’ can escalate, over time, into a darker manipulative personality.

When an Empath encounters inauthentic people they may, initially, assume it is their own insecurities creating the ‘freeze effect’. When it is really a brain scramble caused by the contradictory energy they pick up.

Brain scramble can cause: confusion, stumbling over words, nervousness, and anxiety. It can also cause a stall in the memory, where names, places and events get temporarily erased from the mind Continue reading

Empaths! The Word is Spreading

This morning I was happy to find a newsletter from the renowned psychiatrist, Dr. Judith Orloff, in my inbox. The newsletter stated she had recently gone gluten and sugar free and she now recommends this way of eating to other Empaths.

I was excited by the fact the word is clearly spreading about the importance of addressing the diet to find complete balance, and health and happiness as an Empath.

I have written about the benefits of changing the diet for some years now, after seeing the changes in myself when I removed certain foods from my life. Not only in my health but in my Empath ways.

Certain foods can play havoc with Empath traits. But by making small changes to the diet it can transform our life in the most amazing way.

The more of us who discover the effect food has on our happiness and health, not just as an Empath but as a human, the more who can then spread the word.

I believe so much in the transformational benefits of diet changes, for those who are Sensitive, that I wrote a book about it called: ‘The Eating Plan for Empaths and HSPs – Change Your Diet Change Your Life!

The book is written for an Empath by an Empath. I explain how my traits had been impacted, by what I was eating, and the changes I made.

Here’s a snippet of what the book entails:

  • Why the wrong diet leaves the Empath life-weary, energetically open and overly receptive to the negative emotions of others.
  • What you don’t know about wheat. How it has been genetically altered and why this has affected our health and Empath traits.
  • The destructive effect wheat and sugar has on the Sensitive person’s brain and the reason they are both hidden in most processed foods.
  • Why Empaths and HSPs are hardwired into becoming addicted to drug-like foods and how this can be corrected.
  • How strong emotions, coupled with poor diet, damage the gut and trigger anything from anxiety and excessive introversion to lower back pain and stomach disorders, and the approaches to rectify the damage.
  • Ways to soothe the seat of emotions through nutrition.
  • An easy-to-follow eating plan that will get you off wheat and sugar for good, reshape your life and lead to a more blissful existence.

the-eating-plan-for-empaths-and-hsps-pic-monkeyAs well as a 4-week elimination plan, the book includes at least 90 mouth-watering, easy-to-follow recipes to make the food transition a comfortable and effortless one.

After much trial and error in the kitchen over the years (and mess), I have amassed a wide selection of gluten and sugar-free recipes and have included many of them in the book.

The path of the Empath is already challenging enough; we should not be  taken down by what we eat.

We all want to find balance and peace, but that will not happen without a change in our eating habits.

The wrong diet affects our spiritual awareness and prevents intuition from developing. It also heightens the impact of other people’s energy and emotions, and hinders one’s ability to find inner calm, happiness and health

Until we make necessary changes to the diet, we don’t get to see how foods, like wheat and sugar, have been unnecessarily bringing us down emotionally and affecting our health.

My life has transformed since changing my diet and I know yours can too.

If you are interested and ready to change your diet and change your life, whilst losing some weight in the process, this book is for you!

Until next time

What Has Happened To The World?

Although I dislike watching strong violence, I do have a penchant for zombie and end of the world catastrophe movies. One of my favourites being ‘World War Z’. It only recently dawned on me that these zombie films are almost like a metaphor for the world today.

In a typical zombie film, a virus attacks the human host, whilst keeping the body alive. The body is then under the control of a parasitical hive-minded predator. The zombie is unable to show empathy, think for itself or express any emotion, other than rage, all it seemingly does is attack those not akin to itself.

Hmmm, sound familiar?

We are surrounded by people acting like zombies. Too many people are going through the motions of life, whilst following the protocol of consume, reproduce, sleep and obey (If you’ve ever seen the film ‘They Live’ you’ll know where I’m coming from), but not really questioning anything or  thinking outside of the box.

It’s like there is a divide, a war between light and dark. There is evidence of this everywhere we look.

So yes, we are in the midst of challenging times, that are affecting everyone in different ways. Waking some people up and closing others down, turning them into zombies. The Empaths are obviously affected by all this in unpleasant ways.

What is Happening? Continue reading
